Unfunded Liability Listing

OPEB - Other Post Employment Benefits: Informed Majority's focus is on the singular class of liabilities identified in public reporting as OPEB. This class of liabilities is separate from pension liabilities (which are protected benefits) and generally refers to the liability associated with the promises/representations made for payment of current and post-retirement health insurance benefits of our public employees. These promises, however, are not supported or backed by the same terms or conditions governing pensions.  There remain valid, unresolved concerns regarding the status of these reported liabilities - concerns which demand an explanation, require a resolution, and point to the need for more stringent funding guidelines and more tranparent government accounting and reporting standards.
